Program Description:
The UNC Health CRISM ASSIST Program represents an innovative pathway program to transform the grit, discipline, and teamwork of student-athletes into readiness for clinical, research, and health professions careers. Through hands-on clinical and research immersion, academic enrichment, health professional speaker sessions, and career development seminars, participants will gain exposure to pathways in medicine, behavioral health, allied health, and community health. The summer component of the program is held in person, designed to help student-athletes translate the skills developed through athletics—discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience—into readiness for future health professions training. Participants will engage with faculty, clinicians, researchers, and mentors while building foundational knowledge, professional skills, and confidence to pursue healthcare careers.
